Engineering Project Management Opportunity
with Multinational Development Bank
Engineer needed for project manager position overseeing technical aspects of contracts for public/private infrastructure projects on the Mexico/US border. The project manager will help ensure that projects (water, wastewater, solid waste, paving, renewable energy and more) meet the development bank’s standards from a technical perspective.
The project manager will participate in the development of projects, prepare and review progress reports, undertake field trips, make recommendations to resolve identified development obstacles, and more.
The project manager will:
- Participate in activities related to private and public sector project development, including interaction with project developers and sponsors. The manager will also participate in conceptualization, design, negotiation and developmental operations.
- Participate in performing and coordinating the bank’s institutional development efforts to help public utilities solve urgent needs and upgrade their institutional and technical capacity, aimed at eventual project certification and financing.
- Coordinate with communities and project sponsors in the design, structuring and presentation of projects and help ensure that the projects’ strengths are clearly identified, that the weaknesses can be overcome with appropriate structural measures, and that the projects are financially viable.
- Participate in the pre-appraisal and appraisal of country-focused projects, which includes cost estimates, and local or national financial implications of projects.
- Participate in the selection and supervision of consultants.
- Assist in the preparation of bank documents, especially reports requested by the bank’s management and board of directors.
Requirements include engineering degree (P.E. not required); five to 10 years of engineering experience relating to project management, development and construction; experience with PPPs; ability to travel regionally; fluency (written and verbal) in English and Spanish; and Mexican or US citizenship. Position is in the US.
Salary of up to $70k (US) for the right candidate, plus excellent benefits.
